New Publication – Basel Commentary on the Lugano Convention

Nater Dallafior partners Roberto Dallafior, Benjamin Schumacher and Mladen Stojiljkovic have contributed to the newest edition of Basel Commentary on the Lugano Convention (the convention on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters of 30 October 2007).

Roberto and Benjamin co-authored the commentary on Articles 2–4 (jurisdiction, general provisions) and Articles 59–62 (general provisions).

Mladen wrote the commentary on Articles 18–21 (jurisdiction in employment matters).

The Lugano Convention is a multilateral treaty between the EU and three out of the four EFTA Member States (Switzerland, Norway and Iceland). The Convention is of high practical relevance in cross-border disputes. It provides a framework similar to the Recast Brussels Regulation, which regulates jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments between EU member states.
